How cool is it. Wake up at 3 am, rush to the airport, and get on a plane for Las Vegas. It’s very cool. My plane touched down at 9:30 local time and I met up with James. We got a chauffeur to take us to the Rio, in a black Ford Cadillac Escalade. (Thanks James, you know how to ride in style)
Too bad the Rio was full the previous night, as there was no room at the inn (so to speak). We ended up pre-registering for our room and checking our luggage. We had brunch at the Saò Paulno, and I took advantage of that and had NY steak and eggs. Did I mention I hadn’t eaten since 8pm the previous night?
We were hoping to run into some people we knew but it was way too early. However, we did catch Shawn jogging by the restaurant.
We thought we’d catch up on some poker playin’ so we bought into a no limit Texas Holdem tournament. $70 for 3700 in chips. Hey, that’s over 70 big blinds. There was a three table max and we didn’t do so well. We had some fun, however, and soon after were up in our suite, where I took an hour nap. James woke me up and I thought I was still back home in my room. It was very disorienting.
We headed down stairs to the casino floor were we finally saw some friendly faces. James took a few of the fellas out for lunch to a great Italian joint called Cafe Martorano. It was a little scary because it was such a “romantic” setting, and there were us five guys. After 2½ hours, and full bellies we were finally ready for the charity poker tournament.
Which was a great success. I was knocked out at 34th place by “Carl” from the UK who “had to go” and pushed all in all the way to 2nd place. My friend Logan got 5th, and he’d never played before. Cool.

Sure was a great day “zero” I still have my blog post to do. I’m working on them tonight and I might just make one long post incorporating all the days. We’ll see!

@James Well, you don’t have to release them all at once like ESNagel did.
great day 0 write up, David. We got in at 10:30 on Friday and just did stuff around vegas till the show started. We saw Frank Caliendo at the MonteCarlo, was a great show. Glad to hear you liked cafe martorano, we have one down here in Ft. Lauderdale and it’s the best italian place around, always a huge line and tons of celebrities there. Keep the day write ups comin’

How cool. Was it your first time in Vegas? It was for me. Too smokey though. I had to light up just so the smoke wouldn’t get to me.
